Nourishing Minds and Bodies: A Heartfelt Thank You to Garry & Diane Kvistad. 4.16.25
At Crossroads Center for Children, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive—not just academically, but physically and emotionally as well. That’s why we are thrilled to share our heartfelt thanks to The Garry & Diane Kvistad Donor Advised Fund of the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley, for their generous grant in support of our Healthy Food Program and curriculum needs.
This foundation, previously known to us as the Woodstock Chimes Fund, has helped Crossroads for years now! Because of them we have been able to expand our Social Skills, communication and curricular programming, allowing therapists and teachers to bring in new materials individually suited to the students in their care. With the support of the Kvistads, we can continue to offer nutritious foods that help our students learn to tolerate, enjoy, and even look forward to healthy eating. Each week, classrooms receive fresh foods—fruits, vegetables, proteins, and more—incorporated into lessons that teach food preparation, hygiene, and positive food experiences. For many of our children, this program opens doors to better health and more joyful mealtimes, both at school and at home.
Equally important, this grant allows us to expand our curriculum materials, ensuring our students have the individualized resources they need to develop essential life and academic skills. Whether it’s communication, social interactions, or self-help routines, these tools are the foundation for success now and into the future.
We are deeply grateful to The Garry & Diane Kvistad Donor Advised Fund for sharing in our mission. Their kindness is helping us build a community where all children are supported, celebrated, and given every opportunity to grow.
