Nourishing Bodies and Minds: Thank You for Supporting Our Healthy Food Program 5.13.25
We are overjoyed to share some exciting news with our Crossroads community! Thanks to the generous support of Allen Foundation, Inc, our Healthy Food Program is getting a wonderful boost. Their recent grant will help us continue providing nutritious, sensory-friendly foods to the children we serve—an essential part of how we support their growth and development.
At Crossroads Center for Children, we know that for many of our students, trying new foods can be a big challenge. With autism often comes sensory sensitivities and limited food preferences, making mealtime stressful for families. That’s where our Healthy Food Program steps in—offering students repeated, positive exposure to fresh, wholesome foods in a safe, supportive environment.
Because of the Allen Foundation’s thoughtful funding, our classrooms will have access to fresh produce, protein-rich options, and items they’ve been opposed to in the past. These ingredients are introduced in classroom activities and become opportunities for a child to touch a new texture, to take a brave bite, or to discover a new favorite snack. And when these milestones happen, it’s not just the student who benefits—their families often feel an overwhelming sense of relief and pride.
This program incorporates nutrition, building life skills, expanding horizons, and creating joyful experiences around food. With the help of partners like the Allen Founcation, we’re able to empower our children in ways that go far beyond the plate.
From all of us at Crossroads—thank you for believing in our mission and making a difference in the lives of our students and families.
