A HOPE filled morning

Visiting Pets

9.20.24  Today we had a special visit from our sweet friends, Hope and Cat. This was their second time coming to see our students and also, most likely, the last, as now Hope will soon move on to another stage of her training to be a service dog, a step that brings her to live with a new family and brings her closer to her final placement with a family with a child with autism, where she will provide comfort and care to that child.

We had classes come to the courtyard for their visits, except for the last classroom when it was getting too hot for Hope.

7.12.2024   Meet Hope, an 18-month Golden/Lab mix who is training to be a service dog with BluePath Service Dogs.

Cat is her trainer. Hope lives with Cat for now, but the goal over the next 2 years is for Hope to belong to a family with a child with autism between 3 and 11 years of age.

She has already passed obedience training and all of her vet needs are up-to-date. Crossroads met Hope and Cat at the Autism Expo back in April, and it seemed like a match made in heaven. Today the human-canine duo came for their first visit at Crossroads and sealed the deal.

Visits took place mostly in the hallways so that children who might be afraid would be uninterrupted, invited but only approaching the pup if they desired to. Most did, and some did not.

We found that Hope and Cat are incredibly sweet, calm-tempered, and patient. See today’s pictures. Our next visit is going to be in September in our new building.
