I Like Myself!

October 05, 2017

Some of our classrooms have been working on All About Me themes to help students adapt to a new school year, a new classroom, new friends, new teachers and so on.

Incorporating I Like Myself activities into the All About Me theme is a fantastic method of engaging students in learning and expressing what their unique and special qualities are, and at the same time practicing facial parts, counting, skills, and colors.

“I like myself, I’m glad I’m me, there’s no-one else I’d rather be…” this poem and book by Karen Beaumont and David Catrow helped to set the scene for a sub-theme in Room 13.

As they think about what their own talents, features and interests are, they share with friends and become more united as a group and a classroom.

Room 13 has been experiencing this and here is some of their work!

These self-portraits are an exciting display in the Room 13 hallway. This school-aged classroom, you may recall, is our newest addition, opening in September, 2017.
