SUCCESSFUL EVENT!

Our 2017 Gala, themed “Guess How Much I Love You,” was fun and very energized!  Lots of new people attending, and phenomenal support from our staff and community.

This event took place on Saturday, April 29th, 2017, 6 – 10 pm at the Waters Edge Lighthouse, in Glenville. Many thanks to this great venue for their beautiful work!

To all who were present, to all who helped in any and every way, THANK YOU!!!! It was a wonderful event that helps to meet our important fundraising goals needed to run our highly individualized educational and therapeutic programming for our very special children. We hope you know how much it means to have your help! Not only to us who are present in the here and now, but to our students and families, our school districts and counties in the future as well! Your support is absolutely essential; we need you!

We encourage everyone to join us in thanking our sponsors and donors by shopping and purchasing the various services that they offer. Check this link for a listing:  http://crossroadcenter.org/gala-supporters/ These people – whether through their business or personal commitments – believe in what we are doing at Crossroads enough to give generously. We want them to do well, to prosper and to be appreciated by others!

We are so thankful for support from two past parents who serve our public! Both are in the Assembly! After an already event-packed day for them, Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh, her husband Jim, and her son Terry joined us for the evening. She very humbly selected not to speak; she wanted to be with us as a parent, and not as an elected official. Simply being present with us meant so very much!  Then later on in the evening, Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara and his assistant, Nicole Parisi stopped by and issued certificates to all of the award winners, something that was appreciated by all. It is so very special to us to have this support from both Mary Beth and Angelo. They are both voices for us. To know that our needs are known and being advocated for – truly from a first person point of view – means the world to us!

Speaking of award winners, congratulations to Annie G. and Alicia W. for 15 years of service to Crossroads, and Melissa C. and Vicki R. for 10. These milestones are special both for the school and for these individual employees. Congratulations to the Rite Aid Foundation, which was honored with our annual Connecting the Community Award for their help to Crossroads and the community through the Kid Cents Program. Congratulations to Vinny Haas from W.B. Mason, who was honored with our annual Dedication to Crossroads Award. Gratitude for all award winners runs deep.

DJ Zac Barr did a tremendous job again, engaging everyone in some way, whether to bid on the spectacular silent auction items, to dance, to mingle and to feel welcome. Steve Oill was again an irresistible live auctioneer for this event. So much so that during the live auction, with a bonanza of cool items to bid on, and a tremendous show of participation from our bidding guests, an overnight from the Lake George Marriot was up-scaled to 2 overnights by the donor, and another guest (who wishes to be anonymous) presented a stand up match challenge, that if 50 people would stand up, and donate $10 each, she would match that with $500. Pretty epic stuff!

We had a group of U. Albany graduate students who helped with greeting and check-in, running and check out! Kara, Lindsey, Chris, Kiersten, and Alicia were awesome!

A giant group hug to the 2017 Gala Committee for the humungous amount of time and work that goes into this event. Kelly Young and Cindy Barkowski were fabulous coordinators, and Wendy Whitman, Wendy Loukes, Rachel Frederick, Carolyn Zimmer, Jenn Sandshaw, Vicki Ramotar and Paul Reveal were a determined and enthusiastic committee!

We thank you all and hope you will be there for us again! We have many opportunities to be involved with us here, and invite you to come even closer, and to bring your friends too! Guess how much we love you? To the MOON and BACK!
