Apples, Apples, Apples!

September 29, 2017

Room 6 has been eating up this APPLE THEME!

At this time of year, an APPLES theme is a jumbo hit with kids!

Mrs. Meghan and her class in Room 6 have been going to town with incorporating individual and group goals within this theme in creative and cheerful ways. For example, there are 3 basic colors for apples, so they decorated apple shapes with paint and pompoms.  Matching and sorting apple colors with pompoms and other apple decorations gave cool practice to the students who are working on colors, sorting and matching skills.

In another activity, the class integrated sensory fun with literacy development using applesauce! Dipping their pointer fingers into the sauce, they practiced tracing and other pre-writing skills. Hand-strengthening was an additional benefit for these young fingers.

Room 6 is one of our seven integrated preschool classrooms. Crossroads also has 3 school-aged classrooms.

Crossroads Center for Children, located at 1136 North Westcott Rd. Schenectady, NY 12306, has students from all over the region, from the many school districts and counties surrounding the school. Call us for more information – (518) 280-0083.
